Peds and his head.

Went to the Peds today.. T is up to 14lbs, 13oz.  Ped is concerned with his head growth so have to go in for a CT scan.  I could just be he has a big head, but they want to rule out any other problems (like fluid on the brain).

Harvard article on NICU's

Preterm babies are born with preterm brains. They need to learn in the harsh world outside the womb what normal babies learn inside the comfort of their mothers' bodies.

Ortho and fun stuffs

Had an ortho appointment yesterday.  The hips are still funky, but right now they are taking a wait and see attitude.  They are still dislocated, but they doubt that braces will help atm.  It does look like they are trying to fix themselves on their own.  They also did not think that they would affect development (ie crawling etc).  Of course, with him being a preemie, who knows when he will actually being to crawl.  I am hoping that his hip issues will make him eligible for EI PT.  New York is funky with EI though- they tend to look at the adjusted age development more then his actual.

photo gallery

I have changed settings at the photo gallery to require anyone wanting to see photos of the boy to register. I hate having to have people to jump through hoops, but there are too many weirdos out there (a mom at another blog had problems with someone having a stoma fetish who seemed to get off on her child's stoma).    There have also been problems with people stealing pictures of other's infants in the NICU and passing them off as their own.  It happened to someone on one of the preemie lists I'm on and I have to protect Tristan.

It is a fairly simple process, and feel free to e-mail me (swampcrone*at*swampcrone.com- replace *at* with @)or call if you have any problems/ issues with registering.

Blog I found

finding wonder in the mundane

This is an amazing blog written by a mom who's daughter also has an ostomy.  Her daughter's is due to having omphalocele which is a permanent condition.  There are some great laugh out loud moments and others which made me think.

Early Intervention

Met with the intake person for early intervention today. We have an appointment with a PT and OT to evaluate whether or not Tristan will be eligible for services.
